BT Selects NGD as first data centre PoP for 21CN Node
BT’s Next Generation Network meets Next Generation Data Centre
BT has chosen NGD Europe near Newport South Wales as the first data centre in the UK to go live with a high speed Multi-Service Access Node (MSAN) to support its 21CN Next Generation Network. This follows an extensive data centre centre evaluation process by BT which will see a total of five UK data centres operating the new MSANs by the end of this year.
As a direct point of presence (PoP) on the new 21CN network NGD is immediately able to offer colocation customers highly cost-effective and fast provisioning to BT’s low latency multi-service network at 1Gbps including Ethernet and Optical. BT’s growing network presence at NGD will enable it to benefit from an increased UK data centre footprint for its Next Generation Network services as well as reduce access network installation costs.
“NGD Europe offers BT an exciting pipeline of potential customers for our portfolio of multi-service Next Generation Network solutions,” said Ann Beynon, Director, BT Wales. “The flexibility and huge scale of NGD’s data centre has established a wide and diverse mix of colo customers requiring secure and resilient hosting services, from growing regional businesses and emerging cloud service providers to UK Government departments and multinational organisations such as BT, IBM and Wipro Technologies – all of which require resilient, high speed multi-service connectivity.”
“It is a great accolade to have been selected as BT’s first data centre PoP for its 21CN Next Generation Network. This clearly demonstrates NGD Europe’s position as a strategic carrier-neutral UK data centre hub and allows our customers direct access to even more on-site high speed network connectivity options,” said Nick Razey, CEO, NGD.
