SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC PROVIDES A POWERFUL SOLUTION FOR NEXT GENERATION DATA LIMITED’S MEGA DATA CENTRE IN WALES

Global energy management specialist Schneider Electric has developed a dedicated solution for Next Generation Data Ltd to specify and install all the infrastructure equipment for its new mega data centre in Wales. The vast 75,000 sq metre building has a core infrastructure that provides the critical services such as power, cooling and high speed carrier connections in a highly secure environment.
Located near Newport, South Wales, Next Generation Data’s data centre is one of Europe’s biggest data centres. The £200 million project has transformed a disused semiconductor plant into a technologically advanced data centre which is connected directly to a nearby sub-station, ensuring an industry leading 180 MVA of power supply which is capable of housing up to 19,000 server racks.
Schneider Electric has specified and installed all LV and MV electrical equipment, including rack power distribution in addition to many other technologies, such as security cameras. In addition, the data centre specialist is planning to install a SCADA system – an electronic management system which monitors the power at every stage throughout the distribution, and customers have access to this data in real time.
